The Dispute Resolution Society (‘DRS’) aims to enrich members' experience of appropriate dispute resolution. We mainly focus on three methods of dispute resolution: litigation, mediation, and negotiation. The main programmes of the DRS will be holding moots, mediation practice, and negotiation practice. We aim to create educational events to hone the skills of future lawyers, as well as introduce networking events.
The DRS is an outward-facing society, whilst ensuring we garner great membership within BPP campuses. We will look to collaborate with other societies not only within BPP but amongst other law societies within London. We want to establish strategic partnerships with the Inns of Courts, chambers, and law firms. Finally, we want to ensure every BPP student benefits from our society. Therefore, we will act to garner membership and participation from all BPP campuses. In the future, this could materialise as different city branches outside of London. Consequently, the DRS will be looking to create a hardship fund to allow BPP students outside of London to travel to join events that require them to be in person. Either way, there will be a focus on the longevity of the society well past the tenure of the founding executive committee. The Dispute Resolution Society is for the benefit of all future advocates.
